As it sounds, stress relief lotion is designed to deliver both pain relief and calmness. Usually made with a selection of different essential oils, most lotions contain targeted ingredients designed to penetrate, improve mood and bring enormous pain relief. There are an abundance of essential oils, well known for their healing properties, for example, lavender is calming and soothing and also acts as an anti-inflammatory. There’s also arnica, which is excellent for reducing bruising and inflammation. Chamomile is a mood-uplifting essential oil and peppermint is excellent for improving energy levels.
What is stress relief lotion?
Remember, stress relief isn’t just for muscles and joint pain, it’s just as good for bringing relaxation, but it is dependent on what your lotion is made up of. Stress comes from anywhere, it’s associated with injury and illness but it’s also associated with situations such as a bad day at the office or tension at home. Stress makes you unknowingly tense up inside which is why many people carry their tension in the necks, shoulders and head. A stress relief massage can reduce the pain and discomfort, bringing feelings of calm and relaxation, especially combined with a quality stress relief lotion.
How does it work?
Stress relief lotion works by penetrating the epidermis and reaching deep beneath the skin to target painful joints and muscles. At the same time, stress relief lotion made with certain beneficial essential oils delivers an aromatic and therapeutic experience. Oils such as lavender and eucalyptus are healing and relaxing too, and almost all stress relief lotions combined with essential oils boast marvelous fragrance that really goes a long way to reduce tension.
Make Your Own Stress Relief Lotion
You can make your own stress relief massage oil or lotion too, and use it at the end of the day to relax or to soothe aching muscles post work-out. Here’s how to do it:
Ingredients:
- 5 drops of lavender oil (lavender soothes and calms and has immense healing properties)
- 5 drops of Frankincense oil (good for cleansing and detoxification and also promotes a healthy mood)
- 3 drops of lemon essential oil (which is excellent for boosting energy and reducing stress)
- 5 drops of sweet almond or jojoba oil (carrier oil)
- 15 ml of unscented body lotion (optional)
Then mix all the ingredients together in a bottle with a cap, shake well. Allow the ingredients to infuse for 24 hours before use. Store in a cool, dry place and use the mixture within 4 weeks.
